Dungeon Delve Challenge

I'm actually awaiting the arrival of my flight at Port Columbus right now, so I thought I would take this time to post my entry for the Art Order Dungeon Delve challenge. I loved making this, I don't do many illustrations in the fantasy genre so this was a breath of putrid dungeon air. It depicts a wounded knight behind enemy lines stumbling through a dark dungeon full of danger and his surroundings don't inspire much hope. His armor gets heavier with every step as he attempts to dislodge an arrow from his side and his only comfort is his flickering torch...buts it's only a matter of time before the darkness consumes them both! With all the foreboding aside this was fun to paint, my favorite areas being the one eyed corpse at the knight's feet, and the unnerving wall motif of a cave beast eating knight's of old
... much like the one lost.

  1. I'm loving the insane contrast of textures. Very creepy, awesome back story...well done.

  2. THOSE TEXTURES!
I wanna rub my face all over this.

    But I won't, because I'm a gentleman.

  3. My favorite part is definitely that wall relief. Nice one!

  4. This is what I feel like stumbling my way to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Even the wounded part, as I tend to mash toes.
